The main focus of the College is to hold a grand festival once every University semester, where we can implement all of the skills we have learned during our meetings.

Our traditional events are the Mayday Festival, held as close to Mayday as we can manage, and the Frostbane Festival, held in late August or early September.

Our Mayday Festival is traditionally held as close to "Mayday", or May 1st, as possible. It is a "potluck" feast, i.e. members can bring any period dish and sample the creations of others. In 2008 we had an excellent turnout, an exquisite feast and much frivolity and debauchery in the tradition of all good College festivities. Thank you to all who came!

The Frostbane Festival is a prepared feast. This is our biggest event of the year, and features a grand five-course meal of medieval food prepared by our skilled College chefs. The flyer for this year's event can be found here. To book for this event, please download the booking form and it return it to us at one of our meetings, or e-mail Maria with your details.

This year's Frostbane Festival will be held:

Saturday 11th October 2008 CE / AS XLIII
Tournaments: Band Rotunda Area, Domain, Ildhafn City
Feast: Laingholm Community Hall, 69 Victory Road, Laingholm
Tournaments from 12:00pm, Feast from 6:00pm
$25 per head, RSVP by September 28th

Tournaments: This year we are holding tournaments in all three divisions our members are proficient in, including steel weapon combat under NAAMA prescribed rules, and heavy armoured and 16th century rapier combat under SCA prescribed rules. All comers are welcome but will need to report to the lists with their relevant authorisations well in advance of the commencement of the tournament.

Meal: The feast for this event is being prepared by our master chefs. If you have allergies of *any* kind and are planning to attend the feast, please report these to Maria immediately so we can cater for you and warn you in advance of the things you should not eat. Please bring along your own feasting gear. We have access to gear which can be borrowed. Please get in touch if you need some. The venue is discreetly wet, meaning that if you do decide to bring alcohol then please conceal it from public view. The venue is candle friendly.

Entertainment: We plan to have some dancing, and singing throughout the evening. If anyone would like to perform an item, please e-mail Maria.

Garb: We ask that you come in medieval clothing if you are able. We are able to loan appropriate clothes to those who do not have any; please let Karen or Maria know if you wish to borrow some.

General Things: There is ample parking in the Domain, and also in front of the Laingholm Hall. If you have any further questions, please contact Maria, who is our event steward.

In 2007 the Frostbane tournaments drew six of Auckland's finest steel-weapons fighters, all of whom fought exceptionally and without giving or receiving quarter. We hope to build on this number in future years, and may add SCA divisions of combat if there is sufficient interest. The Frostbane feast was held at the St George Hall in Takapuna, and drew a staggering 45 people from virtually all of Auckland's medieval re-enactment groups! Once again our brilliant Craftsmaster, Lady Maria Bianca Casini, turned in a stellar performance in the kitchen to cater for all in attendance. The dancing, singing and revelry lasted into the long hours of the night, and all gentles present agreed that the event had been a wonderful success. We look forward to seeing everyone again at this year's event, and in even greater numbers!
